Editing Attributes of Multiple Assigned Features

To edit attribute values of multiple assigned features

The Multiple Feature Editor dialog box lets you change the values of attributes that are shared by several assigned features in a design. In a single operation, you can change one or more attribute values for multiple facilities that belong to the same feature category or for facilities in different categories that share the same attributes. This Bentley OpenUtilities Designer feature is especially useful for such tasks as pole replacement, main replacement, voltage conversions, and phase rolls.

There are two ways to select multiple features listed in the Design Workspace. In the By Work Location view, hold down the Control key while clicking features assigned to work locations. In the By Feature Type view, click a feature type.

If the selected facilities represent different feature types, the Multiple Feature Editor dialog box displays only the attributes that are shared by the facilities. If the values for any attribute differ among the selected facilities, the message "Multiple Values" appears in the attribute box.

When you click the box for any value (set or unset), the box becomes editable so that you can select a new value from a drop-down list or drop-down calendar. Any attributes that appear dimmed have been configured with a "read-only" marker and therefore cannot be edited.

  1. In the By Work Location view, hold down the Control key and select the assigned features that you want to edit.

Or in the By Feature Type view, select the feature type that you want to edit.

  2. Right-click any selected item and choose Feature Editor from the shortcut menu to open the Multiple Feature Editor.
  3. Click the attribute value that you want to change.
Note: If this value is not the same for all the selected facilities, a message warns you that you are about to edit an attribute with multiple values. Click Yes to continue.
  4. From the drop-down list or drop-down calendar, select a new value and click OK.
